Terms of use
Last updated: August 21, 2026
1. Provider and contact
These Terms of Use govern the use of the websites, applications, APIs, account functions, research projects, and other online services made available under the Lange Labs name (collectively, the “Services”). The provider and contracting party is Robert Lange, Bahnhofstraße 20, 12555 Berlin, Germany, [email protected] (“Lange Labs”).
2. Scope and conclusion of contract
By creating an account, accepting an invitation, or otherwise using a Service that refers to these Terms, you agree to these Terms. Merely visiting publicly accessible informational pages does not create a continuing service contract. Individual offers, project descriptions, or written agreements may contain additional terms; in the event of a conflict, the more specific agreement prevails.
The Services are intended for persons aged 18 or older. A person using a Service on behalf of an organization confirms that they are authorized to bind that organization. There is no entitlement to registration, an invitation, activation, or continued provision of a free Service. Conflicting user terms do not apply unless Lange Labs expressly agrees to them in text form.
3. Accounts and access credentials
Registration details must be accurate and kept current. Accounts and invitations are personal and may not be sold, transferred, shared, or made available to unauthorized persons. You must use strong access credentials, protect them against unauthorized access, and notify Lange Labs without delay at [email protected] if misuse or a security incident is suspected. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account to the extent that you are responsible for the access or misuse.
4. Nature and availability of the Services
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, the Services are free research, experimental, preview, or beta offerings. They may be incomplete, contain errors, change materially, or be discontinued. Lange Labs does not promise a particular feature set, compatibility, storage period, response time, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or future release. Maintenance, security events, capacity limits, and circumstances outside reasonable control may cause interruptions.
Lange Labs may modify a free Service where this is reasonable in light of technical progress, security, legal requirements, changed third-party services, or further development, taking users' legitimate interests into account. Material changes that negatively affect an ongoing contractual use will be announced within a reasonable period where practicable. Mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.
5. Acceptable use
You may use the Services only lawfully and for their intended purpose. In particular, you must not:
- create, upload, process, or distribute unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, defamatory, discriminatory, threatening, harassing, exploitative, or rights-infringing content or activity;
- probe, scan, attack, disrupt, or test systems without prior written permission; bypass authentication, authorization, rate limits, safeguards, or usage restrictions; or obtain access to accounts, data, or systems without authorization;
- introduce malware or harmful code, enable phishing or credential theft, conduct denial-of-service activity, spam, or unsolicited bulk communication, or operate deceptive or harmful automations;
- scrape, crawl, download, or query the Services in an automated manner except through documented interfaces and within applicable limits, or otherwise place an unreasonable load on infrastructure;
- submit personal data, confidential information, trade secrets, credentials, or other protected material unless you are legally entitled to process it and the relevant Service is suitable for that purpose; special categories of personal data must not be submitted unless Lange Labs has expressly agreed in writing;
- use the Services for weapons, surveillance that violates rights, manipulation, or decisions in medical, legal, financial, employment, credit, insurance, law-enforcement, critical-infrastructure, or other high-risk contexts without all legally required professional review and safeguards;
- copy, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, or commercially exploit a Service except where expressly permitted or where a statutory right cannot be excluded; or
- impersonate another person, conceal the origin of activity, remove proprietary notices, or misrepresent output as verified, human-created, or endorsed by Lange Labs.
6. User content and responsibility
You retain your rights in content you submit. You grant Lange Labs a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free right, limited to the duration and purpose of providing, securing, maintaining, and troubleshooting the requested Services, to host, reproduce, transmit, transform technically, and otherwise process that content. This right includes processing through subcontractors and third-party services selected or activated for the requested function and ends when the content is no longer required for those purposes, subject to legal retention duties and backup cycles.
You are responsible for your content, instructions, configurations, connected systems, recipients, and results. You confirm that you hold all necessary rights and legal bases and that their use does not violate law, contracts, confidentiality duties, intellectual-property rights, personality rights, or data-protection requirements. Lange Labs is not obliged to pre-screen content, but may remove or restrict content where there are reasonable indications of a violation.
7. AI, automation, and generated output
AI and automated outputs may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, unsafe, non-unique, or unsuitable for the intended purpose. They are generated probabilistically and are not professional, legal, medical, financial, or other expert advice. You must independently verify outputs, test workflows in a safe environment, maintain appropriate human oversight, and obtain professional advice where needed before relying on or publishing a result or allowing an automation to affect persons, systems, or property.
You are solely responsible for deciding whether and how to use an output and for complying with disclosure, labeling, copyright, data-protection, and other legal duties. Lange Labs does not represent that an output is factually correct, free of third-party rights, protectable by intellectual-property law, or suitable for production use.
8. Lange Labs rights and feedback
The Services, software, design, documentation, branding, and other provider materials are protected by intellectual-property and other laws. Subject to these Terms, Lange Labs grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable right to use the Services for their intended purpose. No other rights are granted. You may provide feedback voluntarily; Lange Labs may use it without restriction or payment, provided this does not transfer ownership of your pre-existing content, source code, or inventions.
9. Third-party services
A Service may link to, retrieve from, send data to, or depend on third-party services, including AI providers and user-selected APIs. Their terms, privacy notices, prices, limits, and availability are controlled by the respective providers. You are responsible for selecting and lawfully using them and for any credentials or charges incurred with them. Lange Labs is not responsible for third-party services and may change or remove integrations if a provider changes or discontinues its service. Mandatory liability remains unaffected.
10. Data, exports, and backups
You must keep independent, current backups of important content and export it before ending use where an export function is available. The Services are not an archive or backup service unless expressly agreed. Content may be changed or lost through user actions, experimental features, external systems, or technical faults. The processing of personal data is described in the Privacy Notice. After termination, content may be deleted once no longer required for performance, security, dispute resolution, or legal obligations and may remain in restricted backups until the documented backup cycle expires.
11. Monitoring, suspension, and protective measures
Lange Labs may investigate suspected misuse and may block content, revoke credentials, rate-limit, suspend, or terminate access where this is reasonably necessary to prevent or address a security risk, legal violation, infringement of third-party rights, breach of these Terms, excessive resource use, or harm to users, Lange Labs, or third parties. Where appropriate, Lange Labs will consider the severity, frequency, and consequences of the conduct and notify the affected user of the reason and available remedy. Immediate action may be taken where delay would create material risk or be legally prohibited.
12. Term and termination
An agreement for a free Service runs for an indefinite period and may be terminated by either party at any time without notice, unless a specific agreement provides otherwise. Deleting an account or sending a clear termination request to [email protected] is sufficient for the user. The right to terminate for cause remains unaffected. Provisions that by their nature are intended to survive termination, including provisions on rights, responsibility, liability, and dispute resolution, continue to apply.
13. Warranty and liability
Statutory warranty rights apply, subject to the limitations permitted below. Lange Labs is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence; for culpable injury to life, body, or health; under the German Product Liability Act; for a guarantee expressly assumed; and in all other cases of mandatory liability.
For slight negligence, Lange Labs is liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation whose performance is necessary for proper performance of the agreement and on whose performance the user may regularly rely. In that case, liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical of this type of agreement. Otherwise, liability for slight negligence is excluded. These limitations also apply to representatives and agents of Lange Labs. They do not alter the statutory burden of proof and do not restrict mandatory consumer rights.
To the extent legally permissible, Lange Labs is not liable for damage caused by user content, user instructions, unverified AI or automation output, unauthorized account use attributable to the user, incompatible third-party systems, or a failure to maintain reasonable backups. For business users, liability under the preceding paragraph for slight negligence is additionally limited in total to EUR 1,000 per damaging event; this cap does not apply where it would conflict with mandatory law or the unlimited-liability cases above.
14. Indemnification by business users
A user acting in the course of a commercial or independent professional activity shall indemnify Lange Labs against substantiated third-party claims, reasonable legal-defense costs, and regulatory penalties to the extent caused by that user's culpable unlawful content, instructions, connected systems, or breach of these Terms. This does not apply to consumers, does not cover circumstances for which Lange Labs is responsible, and does not restrict either party's right to raise defenses.
15. Changes to these Terms
Lange Labs may amend these Terms for an ongoing Service where necessary because of changes in law, security requirements, functionality, or the Services and where the change does not disturb the contractual balance to the user's disadvantage. Material changes will be communicated in text form or through the Service before taking effect. If a change materially disadvantages a user, the user may terminate before it takes effect. Changes do not apply retroactively. A user's continued use alone does not replace consent where consent is required by law.
16. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. For consumers, this choice does not deprive them of mandatory protection afforded by the law of the country in which they habitually reside. No exclusive place of jurisdiction is agreed with consumers. If the user is a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special fund under public law, Berlin is the exclusive place of jurisdiction to the extent permitted by law.
Lange Labs is neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain unaffected; the applicable statutory rule takes its place. If the language versions differ, the German version prevails.
